What you'll do

We're looking for an Analytics Engineer to join the Data Science team. The Analytics Engineer works closely with business intelligence analysts, data analysts, data architects, data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to design and deploy efficient data models, data pipelines, and ETL/ELT processes that deliver useful data. This role is responsible for driving the success of our analytics programs through the production, documentation, and curation of certified data sources that empower analysts throughout the organization to make data driven decisions. The Analytics Engineer is relied upon by decision makers at all levels to provide timely, accurate, and actionable data to support tactical and strategic planning.

Your contribution may include:

  • Build, optimize, and maintain data models and pipelines in accordance with established best practices.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, product owners, and project stakeholders to understand and satisfy the analytical needs of the organization.
  • Contribute to development of best practices, mentor analysts and data consumers, and act as a strategic partner in the end-to-end delivery of data products.
  • Encourage contributions from the analyst community to improve the usefulness of analytical data products.
  • Monitor ETL/ELT jobs to ensure efficiency of process and correctness of results, including on-call responsibilities.
  • Partner with data analysts, data architects, and data engineers to continuously improve the performance, reliability, quality, and security of data solutions while minimizing cost.
  • Ensure data is properly catalogued.
  • Discover, research, and integrate new data sources.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As an Analytics Engineer, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Data Solutions team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

Ready to apply? Before doing so, please make sure you meet the minimum requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience: Experience in database design, data engineering, data analysis, or software engineering, preferred.

Computer Skills: A solid understanding of object-oriented programming with hands-on experience, preferred. Experience in programming languages like C, C++, C#, Go, Java, R, Python, PySpark, Scala, Node.js, etc. Understanding of data extraction, data ingestion, data integration, database design and development, and ETL/ELT lifecycle management.

Other Requirements: Understanding of modern data warehouse architecture and data warehousing concepts. Knowledge of structured query language (SQL).
