Currently, we are looking for a Costing Analyst to join the ArcBest Technologies team. As a member, you will provide internal management consulting, under supervision, for ArcBest Corporation and its subsidiaries on a wide and ever-changing variety of subjects.  The position offers a high degree of responsibility and upper-management exposure. 

Your contribution may include:

  • Conduct business and financial analysis.
  • Assist with strategic and tactical planning.
  • Complete operational modeling, performance measurement, market research.
  • Design and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Provide timely, accurate and actionable data and analysis to decision makers at all levels.
  • Interact with Information Systems personnel in the definition and design of ArcBest's information support systems.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As a Costing Analyst, you will be a member of the ArcBest Operations Science team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on work load.

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field.  Experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Active Learning - Knowledge of methods and ability to grasp new concepts, acquire new ways of seeing things, and revise ways of thinking and behaving, with the understanding that this is an ongoing business necessity.
  • Analytical Thinking - Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis and the ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve the problems in the best interest of the business.
  • Application Maintenance - Knowledge of and ability to define, implement make changes to, and support a production application.
  • Business Analytics - Knowledge of technologies, techniques and practices for the evaluation of business performance data; ability to analyze business performance using advanced statistical methods to justify and drive future business planning decisions.
  • Business Orientation - knowledge of business concepts, tools and techniques and ability to operate with a business mindset that complements one’s functional specialty and keeps it in a business context.
  • Interpersonal Relationships - Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Query and Database Access Tools - Knowledge of and the ability to use, support and access facilities for extracting and formatting a database management system.
  • Working with Excel - Knowledge of functions, features and versions of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software; ability to use this to organize data manipulations and raise working efficiency.
