Currently, we are looking for a Robotics Software Engineer Intern to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Robotics Software Engineer Intern will be responsible for the research and development of new technologies. This position is involved in the research, development and prototyping of autonomous systems encompassing areas such as computer vision, object recognition, path planning and following. 

Your contribution may include:

  • Manage a research project during the internship that focuses on key Research and Development problems.
  • Assist in the setup and maintain design of Software Modules and overall Architecture.
  • Perform ad-hoc requests to review, develop, and/or analyze operational or department specific processes.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
  • Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As the Robotics Software Engineer Intern, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Tech Research and Development team in Fort Smith, AR. This is a temporary part time internship position that will average fewer than 30 hours per week. Typical hours will fall between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or other related field. Superior academic and leadership achievements, preferred.

Experience: Prior hands-on experience with robots including grounds robots, self-driving cars, quadrotors, robotic arms and mobile robots.

Computer Skills: Proficient in programming with C++ and Python. Prior experience developing in Linux environment.

Other Requirements: Working knowledge of ROS, Rviz, Gazebo, OpenCV and PCL. Familiar with AI/ML concepts.
