What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Quality Specialist I to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Quality Specialist plays a strategic role in our organization, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance processes and systems. This role also involves conducting inspections at our manufacturing facilities to ensure all products meet defined quality standards and comply with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a knack for conducting quality audits, training employees on quality assurance procedures, and championing continuous process improvements.

Your contribution may include:

  • Develop, implement, and manage quality assurance processes and systems.
  • Conduct internal audits and quality assessments to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections at manufacturing facilities, assessing the adherence to quality standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Inspector and multiple teams to conduct and advise on root cause analysis and recommend corrective action.
  • Schedule and conduct internal audits per quality process requirements.
  • Report internal audit activities and status to leadership.
  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities, identify and record problems related to product quality, processes, and quality systems, as well as controlling further processing or delivery of nonconforming products.
  • Enter quality testing data into Zephyr as tests are conducted.
  • Maintain documentation and manage document change activities and record retention as required.
  • Review products, processes, and systems and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform duties as related to the product life cycle as it pertains to quality assurance.
  • Complete all activities related to data recording and preparation of routine reports for Tech R&D leadership in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Identify opportunities for quality improvements and implement strategies to achieve them.
  • Train and mentor employees on quality standards and procedures to ensure uniform understanding and implementation across the organization.
  • Liaise with different departments to ensure consistency in quality across the organization, promoting a culture of quality awareness.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense, yet rewarding, environment.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

As a Quality Specialist I, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Tech R&D team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a related field, required.


  • 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role, required.
  • Experience with quality inspections and audits, a working knowledge of quality measuring tools, and familiarity with warehouse shipping and receiving processes, preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) software, preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Certified Quality Inspector by ASQ required.
  • Certified Quality Auditor by ASQ required.
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management System required.
