What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Software Support Developer I to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Software Support Developer I supports and improves IT systems, monitors system performance, analyzes system behavior, and addresses any relevant problems. This position also performs standard testing and provides solutions to production problems. The Software Support Developer I ultimately applies their understanding of code and diagnostic skills to prevent and resolve application problems.

Your contribution may include:

  • Ability to understand code and to write your own for automation tasks.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues with application and environment.
  • Triage, prioritize, and resolve or escalate inbound support cases in timely manner.
  • Deep dive and conduct root cause analysis of application problems and provide resolution in a timely manner.
  • Serve as an escalation point for other Systems Administrators, Engineers, and other technology teams in the resolution of server and system problems.
  • Collaborate with development and operations team to ensure availability and reliability of the application and infrastructure.
  • Monitor application performance and make recommendations to improve overall application proficiency.
  • Contribute to process improvements with an automation focus.
  • Fine tune existing or develop new custom internal tools for application monitoring.
  • Contribute to knowledge base to disseminate product knowledge throughout the team.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production support.
  • Implement unit and integration tests and conduct functional and performance testing at various stages throughout the development process.
  • Train users on applications and provide support.
  • Follow current technologies, business processes, and industry trends.
  • Utilize appropriate organizational methods, tools, and techniques for software development, and security implementation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to resolve problems and achieve business outcomes.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As a Software Support Developer I, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Information Systems team in Fort Smith, AR. This is an onsite position. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

Ready to apply? Before doing so, please make sure you meet the minimum requirements:

Education: Associates degree in Computer Science, MIS, or relevant field (or equivalent applied experience), preferably with strong academic achievements.

Experience: Prior experience, preferred.

Computer Skills: Strong working knowledge of one or more programming languages and/or frameworks such as C#, VB.Net, .NET, ASP.Net, JavaScript, Vue.js, HTML, CSS, etc. Experience with handling and supporting live production incidents. Excellent application debugging and infrastructure troubleshooting skills. Strong organizational and Project Management skills. Working knowledge of relational databases (DB2, SQL Server, etc.) and SQL. Experience supporting web-based, web services, and database driven applications. Familiarity with API structures and use cases. Familiarity with z/OS mainframe technologies is beneficial. Understanding of software development lifecycles. Experience supporting integrations with third-party software packages is beneficial.
