Currently, we are looking for a Technical Analyst – Mainframe Systems to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Technical Analyst – Mainframe Systems works closely with other members of the Technical Services team to acquire the requisite knowledge and experience to effectively participate in daily activities. This position supports all IBM mainframe hardware and software, with the exception of DB2-z/OS, and includes the z/OS operating system, core subsystems, ISV software, related hardware, and various in-house developed tools and utilities. The Technical Analyst provides support as needed to the ABTech Information Services department.

This position maintains communication with other team members where necessary concerning status of projects, research, and problem determination. The Technical Analyst also provides reporting to the management team in the form of weekly status reports as well as other verbal and written communication.

Your contribution may include:

• Administrate z/OS operating system, subsystems, and ISV products.
• Administrate mainframe related hardware (CPC, DASD, VTS).
• Review and recommend software to assist with mainframe system administration.
• Provide support to ABTech Information Services personnel relative to mainframe systems.
• Research new technologies in the mainframe systems area.
• Establish backup and recovery strategies and procedures for mainframe systems.
• Other duties and project, as assigned.

As a Technical Analyst – Mainframe Systems, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Technical Services team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on work load.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or equivalent field.

Experience: Entry-level position; minimal experience required. 

Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of z/OS administration, IBM hardware, COBOL, Assembler, and JCL.
