What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Technical Analyst, Network Systems to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Technical Analyst, Network Systems will work closely with other members of the Technical Services team to acquire the requisite knowledge and experience to effectively participate in daily activities. The daily activities of a Technical Analyst, Network Systems involve aiding AB Tech Information Services and Technical Services personnel through systems administration, resource configuration, and research of new technologies and problem resolution.

The Technical Analyst, Network Systems will participate as a team member in the overall support of AB Tech IT Systems. This position will maintain communication with other team members where necessary concerning status of projects, research, and problem determination. In addition, the Technical Analyst, Network Systems will provide reporting to the management team in the form of weekly status reports as well as other verbal and written communication.

Your contribution may include:

  • Provide system administration and architecture of on-premises and cloud network systems.
  • Design and implement enterprise scale networks.
  • Support remote campuses and field networks.
  • Review and recommend network solutions.
  • Provide support to Information Services and Technical Services personnel.
  • Review and recommend software to assist with network system administration.
  • Implement disaster recovery strategies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports to management team in the form of weekly status reports.
  • Collaborate with various teams including Technical Services and Information Services.
  • Develop training plans for new Technical Services personnel.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As a Technical Analyst, Network Systems, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Technical Services team in Fort Smith, AR. The hours are generally 7:30 am – 5:30 pm with irregular and on call hours. A flexible working schedule of nine-hour workdays with one day off every two weeks is available after six months of employment subject to approval by the supervising Director. Position is subject to 24 hour on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis and availability as needed.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in information Systems or related field, preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of wireless local area network (WLAN) technologies, wide area networking (T1, DS3, MPLS, etc.), structured wiring systems, and network protocols such as TCP/IP. Experience with network trace diagnosis using tools such as Wireshark. Must have a basic understanding of server hardware and software, including Microsoft server products and Linux (especially networking components).
